In this article, I am going to explain about District and Sessions Judge (D&SJ), District Judge, Sessions Judge, Additional District & Sessions Judge (AD&SJ), Additional District Judge (ADJ), Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ).
District & Sessions Court
is available in each District of the Province. The District & Sessions Court has both Civil
and criminal jurisdictions. Due to large number of cases, there are also
deputed Additional District & Sessions Judges in the District Headquarters
as well as in some Tehsils, where
required.
The District & Sessions
Judge has administrative and judicial powers as head of the District Judiciary all
over the district under his jurisdiction.
Difference between District
and Sessions Judge and Additional District and Sessions Judge
The full District and
Sessions Judge has administrative powers than Additional District and Sessions
Judge.
When any case either Bail
Petition or Civil Appeal or any other case is filed before the District and
Sessions Judge, the District and Sessions Judge can hear the case personally or
may entrust to some other Additional District and Sessions Judge for deciding
the same. The D&SJ can also transfer the case pending in any court subordinate
to him, from one court another.
Who
is District Judge?
The
District Judge is actually District & Sessions Judge. When he hears civil
cases, he may be called District Judge.
Sessions
Judge?
The Sessions Judge is
actually District & Sessions Judge. When he hears criminal cases, he may be
called Sessions Judge.
Who
are Additional District Judge and
Additional Sessions Judge
As mentioned above that when a
District and Sessions Judge hears Civil case, we may call him District Judge
and when District and Sessions Judge
hears criminal cases, we may call him Sessions Judge.
In the same manner, when an
Additional District and Sessions Judge
hear hears Civil case, we may call him Additional District Judge and
when Additional District and Sessions
Judge hears criminal cases, we may call him Additional Sessions Judge.
