Certificate of sponsorship for UK Charity Visa and the companies

 

Without Certificate of sponsorship (CoS) reference number, you cannot apply for UK Charity Worker Visa because this sponsorship certificate reference must be entered at the time of applying online for Charity Worker Visa. The case worker/ Visa Officer etc can easily verify a certificate of sponsorship to ascertain the genuineness of a sponsorship reference number. The validity of a sponsorship is for 03 months, which means that the sponsorship certificate must have been issued no more than three (03) months before the date of application.

 

Certificate of sponsorship for Charity Worker Visa is a unique number assigned by UK licensed sponsor/company to a particular applicant who intends to apply for Charity Worker Visa and to work in UK as volunteer.  The sponsor must be licensed and listed as A-Rated on the Home Office’s Register of licensed sponsors.

 

Certificate of sponsorship is not a paper document but a digital record, which holds information about applicant, passport, job or role description, date of start of job etc.  

 

Once, the certificate of sponsorship reference number has been used in a visa application for Charity Worker Visa, which was either granted or otherwise refused, same cannot be used again for another visa application for charity worker visa or any other visa application.  The certificate of sponsorship, which after its issuance, has been withdrawn by sponsor or cancelled by Home Office, cannot be used for applying UK Charity Worker Visa.

 

How Case Worker/ Visa Officer proceed with Certificate of sponsorship?

 

The Case worker finds a particular CoS in CoS Checking system, and he may find different status of a COS being checked for example Assigned, suspended, withdrawn, used. The case work proceeds differently according to the status of CoS , detailed below:-

 

·       If status of a Cos (certificate of sponsorship) is shown as “Assigned”, then case worker may continue to assess the application.

 

·       If status of a Cos (certificate of sponsorship) is shown as “suspended”, then it is the duty of a case worker not to decide the case and keep it on hold. In such situation, the case worker contacts the sponsor Licensing Unit (SLU) to find out if they will be reinstating the sponsor or if it will be suspended indefinitely and what information can be shared with the applicant.

 

·       If status of a Cos (certificate of sponsorship) is shown as “withdrawn”, which means that it is no more valid. In such situation the case worker straightaway refuses the application, if he is satisfied that   another (fresh) Cos or Certificate of sponsorship has not been issued. 

 

·       If status of a Cos (certificate of sponsorship) is shown as “used”, which means that is it no more valid. In such situation too, the case worker straightaway refuses the application, if he is satisfied that another (fresh) Cos or Certificate of sponsorship has not been issued. 

 

 System of checking certificate of sponsorship

 

The case worker can check Certificate of sponsorship by accessing the Cos Checking System. The Cos Checker times out after 30 minutes, after which, the case worker may need to long in again.

·       By mentioning applicants detail

·       Sponsor details
